Do's and Don'ts if You are Trying to Get Rid of Acne

By Marcel Stephenson

It is not fun to have acne, and it affects millions of teens every year and the number is growing. If you make these mistakes treating your acne, you will make your acne worse and it can remain a problem for you well into adulthood.

1. Squeezing and Scratching

Squeezing is OUT. The yellow spot in the middle is puss that needs to come out. When you squeeze a pimple you might be shoving it back into the pore instead. So instead of making it better, you are worsening the infected area, and are spreading the bacteria, which aggravates the problem.

2. Scrubbing

You cannot scrub the affected area because you will end up with oozing, open sores which will take much longer to heal and is prone to infection.

The harder you scrub the worse the acne will get, the best is to use a mild treatment. Mild, non-allergic soap is the best. Use it 3 times a day with a soft cloth, this will ensure that the affected area is kept clean without re-infecting the area.

3. Give up Make-Up

Make-up clogs your pores, so you will have to stop using it for a while. The areas that are infected need to be able to breathe to heal.

4. Medication

Be careful when you use over the counter medication. Some might be a bit too harsh for your skin, and will only cause irritation. If you use the medication too much it might actually make the condition worse.

To summarize, be careful with creams and ointments, if they are too harsh they can make you acne worse. Make sure you choose treatments and products for your skin. Don't squeeze your pimples, even if it's difficult not to, it will only make it worse, and give you scars. If you suffer from very severe acne, it might be best to see a dermatologist. - 16003
