Panic & Anxiety Attack Facts Reveled

Around 2.4 million Americans suffer from anxiety or panic attacks. They commonly occur during late adolescence and into early adulthood. For some reason women are twice as likely to suffer from these attacks.

*Symptoms of a panic or anxiety attack are:

*A feeling of labored breathing.

*Increased heart rate or pain in the chest.

*A great feeling of fear.

*A chocking or smothering feeling.

*Dizziness or feeling faint.

*Trembling or shaking all over the body.

*Increased perspiration.

*Feeling like you could vomit.

*Numbness or tingling in the toes or fingers.

*Chills or hot flashes.

*A fear that you are losing control or are about to die.

Although the exact cause of the attacks is unknown they are known to run in families. The attacks can be passed on by either one of the parents. Stress can bring on an event.

Psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and medications like Paxil and Zoloft are often prescribed. Xanax or Klonopin are used also. Drugs for an irregular heart beat can be prescribed which are called beta blockers.

Some people will get treatment and then later in life suffer from the attacks once again.
