On the face of it, it might look like piracy or an illegal activity, but the truth is that you need to copy a DVD because you want to keep a back up copy of a DVD of your choice. Why should you mourn the loss of your favorite DVD movie just because a friend did not return it or it got misplaced? With the advanced technology you can keep a back up copy of the same.

Generally, the copyrighted DVDs are quite expensive. It has to be so because these are the regular DVDs. They are copyrighted DVDs, which means they are encrypted and cannot be copied. It was important for DVD manufacturers to build in this protective gear because some people make copies of the DVDs for commercial use. This is illegal and unethical. However, the majority of people would like to make copies of DVDs to keep a backup in case the copyrighted DVD is stolen, damaged, or lost.

First the technology of encryption was evolved to safeguard the DVDs but soon after several software programs were developed that can circumvent the encryption and copy the copyrighted DVD. These programs are quite expensive. So, you must ensure that the program has the ability to burn copyrighted DVDs when you go shopping for such a program.

You will have to do some research and look at the different programs that can help you in copying DVDs. Make comparisons and then select the best one, which means it should meet with your specific requirements and should be able to successfully finish the task in less than an hour. The most important concern that we need to keep in mind in this connection is that this is not all just another DVDs. As these are all copyrighted DVDs, we cannot copy them like the other DVDs. You have to ensure that when you are buying software programs, you would be ale to copy any copyrighted DVD as well. These software programs are of course going to cost you some amount of money. Even if they cost some more money than you actually did expect, rest assured, a lot of money is going to be saved in the long run.

Once you have got the software program to copy copyrighted DVD, you will need some blank discs in which your DVD can be copied. You can buy blank DVDs from anywhere. Just make sure that the DVD you purchase has enough space to copy the entire DVD. Also ensure that the quality will remain intact for a long time. Then, place the disc in your writable drive. Make a temporary copy, insert the writable disc, and allow it to make a duplicate copy.
